One woman's left is another woman's right

Below is a list of state, national, and international online newspapers and magazines. I ask folks who stumble by to comment on which label (right, left, center) best suits each newspaper/magazine. I realize these are somewhat arbitrary and shifting labels, but ask you go with the flow (or not - you can do what the heck you want, right?). Comment on all or some or none. Your opinion of each is also welcome.

State/Local (at least to this bird)
Los Angeles Times

The San Francisco Bay Guardian

The San Francisco Chronicle

U.S. / National
The Christian Science Monitor

The Economist

In These Times

Mother Jones

The Nation

The National Review

New America Media

The New York Times

The Raw Story

Rolling Stone Magazine

The Washington Post

BBC News

Guardian Unlimited

The Jerusalem Post

Wow K9 wish I had the money to make me a Bondi Beach bolshie.... I'll just keep on with my pathetic little attempt to believe in the things that make us humans celebrate our differences and accept our failings in compassion and love. OK with you?

10-4! that was just a little love nip BBB! your righteous passion at WCH is one of my favorite guest appearances. As far as compassion you are very selective in how you apply it. s'okay! Im feeling ya.......

you sound sweeter today than usual! Did GWB have a coronary last night? Oh S**t that was CHENEY!!!!!!

the permission is for usage of the rap only and in your class only. I think you are smart to prevent your students from looking into blognests where your eggs have been laid.

BTW I dont read hate into the revenge site -at least not from the host. what is happenning all around us is the lost art of spirited disagreement without assigning some deep resentment or hatred behind it. Heated talk/writing doesnt equal hate. I don't see the harsh words coming my way as hate (it may very well be hate but i dont take it in so to speak - i accept it as part of this SPORT i call blogging. and, when someone lands a good kidney punch on me Ive got a big ol dog grin goin')

warp on!

K9:Absolutely - rap only.

I agree to some extent - we have a lack of spirited disagreement, but I suspect that you and I might define "spirited disagreement" differently.

But I will ponder the revenge site a bit more - and see if i can re-vision it.

Certainly, what is spirited disagreement in the blogger world is quite different from spirited debate in the media and politics (there ain't any). But there should be rules of engagement - as indeed there are for an old-fashioned debate. Of course, no one is debating in that fashion in the media or politics - they prefer sound bites and sweeping and emotional generalizations - and in part, that's what I see on the revenge site in the commments and sometimes in the drawings.

I wage a constant war against sweeping generalizations. we can argue that there is a kernal of truth in every generalization, in every stereotype, but that kernal becomes so distorted and divorced form the whole when reduced, or exploded out into stereotypes and generalizations.

By the way, what did you think of Georgie's little speech the other night? Content aside, the prez needs a new speech writer - what boring rhetoric and sentence structure. Of course, he couldn't handle anything too complex (WARNING: ad hom attack coming), he has no brain power and clearly suffers from sort of thinking disorder - perhaps babs dropped him on head (repeatedly) when he was a baby. now, is that spirited disagreement, or ...?

Dai Boyed is back.

Ever watch Fat Tony on the Simpsons?

Fat Tony's voice is all I here when I see your picture and comment somewhere.

(clipped speech)

Tell it, to da Boyed.

I dunno why. but then again I have a 7 inch leather clad fairy with a machete in my left pocket. So it is probably just me.

She told you to suck it as a pun btw, and also because it is her latest catch-phrase. The double entandre was too great a temptation....

Want to be linked to Rotating Chaos as a Superfriend? I put out an open call.... what is your superpower?

Come on Boyed, we need the estrogen over there on the links list!!!

Christie Whitman is a woman of Congress that I can get behind.

After all, the Republican party USED to be the good party, the one of the Republic and for the Republic.

It is no longer that party, and she is asking that it change.

"Applied compassion"..mm never heard of that before..."selective applied compassion".. even newer to me. Compassion is given to anyone who deserves it even if they do not wish to receive it.
Heck I will even give it to a rabid dog that needs a bit of TLC and discipline.

Set the warp valves to overdrive, and turn up the flux capacitor. Permission granted, but let me clean off the irritating cursor from the heart graphic tomorrow, before you print it off like that....you must include the image of Vanille le Bitch.....that is my only requirement.

Thanx for that major coup!!

Tanks.......to da Boyed.
