I realize these are somewhat arbitrary and shifting labels, but ask you go with the flow (or not - you can do what the heck you want, right?). Comment on all or some or none. BTW I dont read hate into the revenge site -at least not from the host. what is happenning all around us is the lost art of spirited disagreement without assigning some deep resentment or hatred behind it. Heated talk/writing doesnt equal hate. I don't see the harsh words coming my way as hate (it may very well be hate but i dont take it in so to speak - i accept it as part of this SPORT i call blogging. and, when someone lands a good kidney punch on me Ive got a big ol dog grin goin')

I agree to some extent - we have a lack of spirited disagreement, but I suspect that you and I might define "spirited disagreement" differently.
But I will ponder the revenge site a bit more - and see if i can re-vision it.
Certainly, what is spirited disagreement in the blogger world is quite different from spirited debate in the media and politics (there ain't any). But there should be rules of engagement - as indeed there are for an old-fashioned debate. Of course, no one is debating in that fashion in the media or politics - they prefer sound bites and sweeping and emotional generalizations - and in part, that's what I see on the revenge site in the commments and sometimes in the drawings.
I wage a constant war against sweeping generalizations. we can argue that there is a kernal of truth in every generalization, in every stereotype, but that kernal becomes so distorted and divorced form the whole when reduced, or exploded out into stereotypes and generalizations.
By the way, what did you think of Georgie's little speech the other night? Content aside, the prez needs a new speech writer - what boring rhetoric and sentence structure. Of course, he couldn't handle anything too complex (WARNING: ad hom attack coming), he has no brain power and clearly suffers from sort of thinking disorder - perhaps babs dropped him on head (repeatedly) when he was a baby. now, is that spirited disagreement, or ...?
