Who's In The House?

Madame Speaker’s in The House!
Only Two Heartbeats Away!

A big shout out to my sisters! I can hardly wait for the next State of the Union address. When the camera focuses on Bush, we’ll finally see a female face replacing one of those fat-jowled, male visages sitting on the dais behind the Prez. Yeah!

My daughter and her girlfriends revel in this turn of events. “Mom,” my daughter tells me, “this means we might have a female president – in MY lifetime!” I won’t dash her hopes – maybe she’s right. Maybe a woman from her generation will become, as she and her friends shout it:

THE MOST POWERFUL PERSON IN THE WORLD.

I am too jaded to think that far ahead. I am just gleeful that we now have a Madame Speaker just two heartbeats away from the Oval Office.

Yes, some of the neocons are worried about Pelosi – since she is, as the media have dubbed her, a “San Francisco liberal Democrat.” Amen, I say to that. Nothing wrong in being a San Francisco liberal Dem. But Pelosi is also a seasoned, practical politician. She has a mission – if the Dems don’t move forward positively, productively, ’08 won’t look so good.

To add to my joy, the American voters took control of the House and the Senate away from the bigoted, hate-filled, lying, hypocritical, and definitely not compassionate Republican neocons. Those neocons gave Republicans in general a bad name; they twisted compassion, and they played their own one against the other in a mad pursuit for power. And power not to help the people, but to merely help themselves. Fuck ‘em, I say. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Here's your hat - now hurry on out of here!

Don’t expect a sharp left turn from this new Congress and Senate. First off, the Dems don’t carry a large majority in the Senate, and second, quite a few of the Dems who kicked ass on the Repubs are CENTRISTS, almost conservatives – not leftists.

But the pendulum is swinging from the extreme right back toward the center. Maybe now we can see a cessation on the war the neocons have waged for the past six years against the people and the environment.

Utopia? Nope. But at least, perhaps, a more even, stable, rational path for our country.

Who’s in the House?

MADAME SPEAKER’S IN THE HOUSE!

Yeah, she's in da house!

However, she's already said they won't try to impeach Bush. Why not??? He's broken so many laws. I'll list if dared.

Still better than a republican speaker, though. And she IS well spoken--seems much more presidential and dignified than our curren president.

Spied the cover of the current New Yorker? Ha!

AMEN SISTERS!

A new day is dawning. No, it won't be utopia. We couldn't handle utopia.

I, too, hope to see a women president in my lifetime. And that may no be too easy. I am getting along in years. lol

Pelosi's not going for an impeachment says a lot about how she sees her role in bring folks together. Granted she has more grounds than those necons who went after President Clinton, but she has too much class to stoop to neocon bullshit.

So, dear bird, I echo your sentiments--FUCK 'em. Do let the door hit 'em in the ass on the way out. It may wake up their brain. lol

And a good time will be had by all!

btw, if you haven't visited David Brin's blog, you might want to do so. He has some very interesting ideas about neocons and modernists.

i'd dispute the POTUS being the most powerful person in the world. He himself is not powerful because he is subject to many.

I am however, very happy to see Nancy Pelosi in the House. =D

bird - hell has started an entire new blog dedicated to Pelosi... they are running scared already... the Dems will be productive if Bush doesn't wield his veto pen too often...

I am happy to see a woman in such a promiment position in the US... I'd like to think we could have a woman president soon, but I don't think the US is mature enough yet...

So so happy, even the rest of the world rejoices with you!
Watched a bio of Nancy and was mightily impressed. She won't be easily swayed.
Yes at least the pendulum is swinging... something needed to move back to the caring side.
We already feel sorry for the neo cons, so they don't need more than that at the moment.

Yay sister. So glad voting was proved to be too powerful for ol' rummy. Bastard of a male.

So I will hold out hope of a female president in my life time too, and hope she doesn't have to have the hardened balls of most pollies..that she is a real SHE.
Or even a black president would be interesting...
a black female president???

Dreamin'
