The Dogs of Pattaya
Here’s a fine specimen of a typical Thai dog.
This fine fellow joined us in the evenings as we strolled the beach after dinner. He had a particular section of the beach that was clearly his and would accompany us only along that section. When we reached the invisible border, he would turn off. He was quite a good companion and on occasion, would warn other dogs in our vicinity that we were his and not to bother claiming us. We didn't in the least mind belonging to him.
These murky, shadowy fellows hung out in the parking lot near the beach in the evening. I’m sure they guarded our car as we strolled the beach. Who would disturb our car with this pack on patrol?
My favorite pup – BBQ, who belonged to the vendor in charge of our section of the beach. BBQ was popular with all the patrons.

BBQ is a charmer, indeed.
It is good to know that you are so well protected. lol
Territoriality is an amazing thing.
Thanks, again, for sharing your adventure.
The dog in the first photo reminds me of Oscar, the dog that one of my daughters has.
funny when nature is left to her own devices she goes to a yellow dingoesh dog....i like the look of them! im glad you had a K9 escort for each section of the beach....i know about those invisible lines!
The way I look at blogs is probably illegal....
I copy them, take them home, and view them from my computer there.
I saw your picture, and WOW! You ARE a pretty one, eh.
Now, about the BBQ dog thing.... look. First off, y'have to cure the dog for at least two weeks (depending on their age) and that in itself realy gets the neighbor's sensitivities worked up to a froth....
No, seriously. Cute dog. But, if that's a weiner, then, know this. GIRL dogs are WAY smarter than boy dogs.
Y'know. Kind'a like humans.
No dog on the menu then of Thai restaurants?
(hehehe)
Hahaha - nope - no dogs on any menus.
Other than BBQ, the dogs pictured here are all street dogs. No owners. It's amazing to me how socialized and well-behaved the street dogs are - and essentially, how well-cared for. They are in pretty good shape. Folks take care of them - they get plenty of food and affection, but no medical care. No SPCA rounds them up. But certainly, on the street, it is survival of the fittest.
BBQ is cute! that name is a little unsettling, though, considering the locale...
