A Poem A Day - That's All I Ask

Summer Project #1: Write a poem a day. And so I begin:

essential to the game

indigenous to North America
feed crop for animals and baseball players
one oz. nets 6 grams of protein
and relieves an inning of stress

store at least a dozen uncracked kernels
in the left cheek
shift one to front center of teeth
crack and rescue seed with tongue
swallow seed
shift debris to right side of cheek
repeat until right side is full
left side is empty.

spit shells
swing bat
run

yes indeed - one ounce of sunflowers seeds has about 6 grams of protein - not bad, eh?

i have tried the sunflower cracking technique - and fail at it miserably. i can handle one seed at a time. i often wonder why we've not seen ballplayers choke on the seeds during a game.

i'll be at the ballpark tonight, and tomorrow night and wednesday afternoon. you're welcome to join me - hahahaha! (summer project #2: attend as many baseball games as possible.)
