The 100th Blog: Bird Documents Her Procrastination Technique

Today, I had planned to:

Sit in my big, red, comfy chair and grade a stack of student papers.
Do my laundry.
Empty my dishwasher.
Straighten up the wreck that is my study.

Prune my potato vine and sweep the balcony.

Take care of my personal accounting.

Instead, I took a four-mile walk with a friend, had coffee, yakked on the phone with my sister, and took pictures of what I was supposed to do:

The stack of student papers, waiting for me on the ottoman of my big, red, comfy chair:

My laundry (I have one clean towel left in the house):

The dishwasher full of clean dishes:

The shambles that is my study:

My potato vine and balcony:

And my cat, Cat (didn't need to do anything about her - she is low maintenance - course I am curious how she got from the balcony floor (see above) to the balcony wall...):

My personal accounting and the instruments by which I handle that accounting:

I did manage to empty the dishwasher. I have proof:

I am relieved that cleaning the toilet is not on the to-do list.

I wonder what I will do tomorrow.

Flap/Flap/Swoosh!

You are my hero.

I love exceptional procrastinators! :)

I hope you do some crossword puzzles tomorrow. That is what I will be doing instead of my "to-do" list!

Althougth my photos would be more along the lines of a picture of my monitor & the back of my head. hehe

Procrastinators unite!

I managed to do half of my student papers this evening - so I am up and wired now and sorting through photos (and anything else besides doing the other half of the papers). This is ridiculous! (12:42AM in my part of the world.)

As I did get some of my work accomplished, I suppose I am not really excelling at procrastinating (I am merely competent at it) - I will try harder tomorrow - unless I think of something else to do instead.

Bird,
Interesting insights into Birdland. My mind spins and plots.
Where are all the wine and whiskey bottles strewn about, the ash trays teeming with cigarette butts, the broken furniture?

Flapping and swooshing is a full time task. Perhaps other activities can be worked in sometime, or not.

The whole concept of multi-tasking gives procastinators even more opportunities to change priorities of things to do. The possibilities are staggering. I need to rest with the weight of it all. Perhaps I will get back to this comment later.

In the meantime, flap, flap, swoosh some more, bird. It will help you clear your mind and schedule. lol

K9 my dear rottie,
I simply cannot allow you to have that domestic image in your head. Take a look at the balcony picture again - the lovely greenery and chair and bench. Now imagine the ever-so-luvvery Double D Babes sipping champaigne, dressed in only their jeans and lacey bras (jae is in red, I in black. We have beautifully manicured toes (pink) and fingers (french). We are dancing to Santana, War, Al Green and Marvin Gaye(by turns of course - not all at once).

Better now?

/t: when you get around to it post a comment.

Savage,
That's another set of pictures...hahaha!

Jack! Yes I managed to procrastinate some more today - and get some work done as well. Took a 4-mile hike, cleaned the bathroon, grocery shopped and graded more papers. My god - I am a wonder woman! Procrastinating can clear the mind and make one more efficient (deadlines help too!)

PS to Thursday Next - no crossword puzzle today, but I did pick up the Economist at the grocery store and will read the article "Who Killed the Newspaper?" while I soak in a lavendar bubble bath. I will not procrastinate on that "task" however - off I go!

I think you've inspired a post for me Bird! I'm going to take my camera around the house and do random, and honest (I'll try) shots of what procrastination has done to my home..but I did get my craft room desk cleaned! :)

Hope you are feeling better-

We harass our students for being procrastinators, and then we can't help but to be one (or some, the grammar sounds funny).

I have decided not to be the person who grades papers into the night. I will work a regular work day (with the exception of a few late shifts) and "clock out" when it is time. No more grading and eating.

I am glad to see that I am not the only procrastinator.

jack - nice link. hahaha!

pig - goodness! are you happy with amadjehin (sp -what the heck is that guy's name?)

mayden - we can compare disasters,eh? it's so much more fun to take pictures of the mess than to clean it up!

mrs. b - i am trying not to work at home too much this semester, especially in the evening. alas, some of my procrastinating yesterday has led to working at home tonight. always a price to pay. sigh.

Perhaps something of a dog theme for #101? (As in dalmations or rottweilers?)

I'm procrastinating right now. Isn't SHOULD a terrible word?

hee hee, cute pun there disguised. shamefacedly, i admit that in my early-morning stupor, it took a moment to sink in.

maybe i should take a vote on the topic for post 101?

bird,

didn't mean
this should become
a burden for you...

101 is an opportunity to begin anew, should one wish to do that, or further solidify directions established by the first 100, as you please

the idea of a vote sounds good -- keyword: participatory

I shall brag, AB, about the painter of that pic behind the red chair - that's a goat my daughter painted in 6th grade. she had watched a pbs show that demonstrated some painting technique and decided to try it. i love that pic.

she also did a lovely painting of the NYC horizon - with the Towers included - done in greys and browns - sooty, dirty city affect and quite good. and in hindsight, somewhat prescient (sp?).

more bragging - she is like that - learns things easily and retains the info to apply later. saw a demo of how to fan a strawberry and a month later, remembered it and made a beatuiful strawberry tart and decorarted with fanned strawberries.

ok, enuff bragging. but she is wonderful i think. very competent in ways her mother is not.

I did make my bed, but I didn't clean up the pile of books next to it, or the mess in my office downstairs...of which I am quite embarrassed at how bad it looks!

My brother moved to San Diego in August :) Just thought you'd think that was interesting...I'm not planning a visit yet, but maybe sometime next year? We'll see :)
I'd really rather go back to Asia first! :)
