Faith-BasedOrganizations Join Homeland Security to Protect Us From the Evil-Doers!

The Department of Homeland Security has been instructed by an executive order to establish a Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives within the Department. The Center's goal is to help faith-based organizations “better meet America’s social and community needs” – in short, find ways for these organizations to override certain regulations regarding the hiring and discrimination practices these organizations must adhere to in order to secure federal monies or government contracts.

I am at a loss to understand how a faith-based center furthers the Department of Homeland Security’s mission to protect our country from terrorism. Our tax dollars are allotted to this center, to this work. Tax dollars intended for defending our country against terrorists. I am totally baffled.

Or wait! Now I get it! The war against terror is religious-based, right? At least it often seems portrayed that way. Ah, now it makes perfect sense. We’ll fight those evil, Muslim fundamentalist religious fanatics with religious fanatics of our own!

Wow – Bush is just fucking brilliant.

Bird :-)

Bless your sweet heart and brilliant mind. You have keen insight. The thought just occured to me that we are now endeavoring to meld church and state. And, the only church fitting enough is those of Christian origins. Hmmm! How far apart are fundamentalists of any stripe? I had a sociology prof mention one time that extremes are not on a straigth line, but on a cirlce. Those who rail against them on the other end of the spectrum need only turn around and see them(selves).

It is going to take a long time to undo all of this religious hocus pocus that the necons have been able to push through. I doubt that I will live long enough to see it happen, but I hope to be a part of it in my next life.

So very important that you are helping to hone in on those minute details that governments like ours are hoping we overlook whilst they grasp more and more power for themselves and away from the people.
I shall keep an eye out for the same happenings here.
Thank you for the worning and "fucking brilliance" is such a specialised ability, isn't it?

Aha! So Bush's slip about the crusades a few years ago was accurate!

Then that church in Kansas that is going around protesting at soldiers' funerals saying that God sent those roadside bombs to kill them because they support a country that is supportive of homosexuals (what????) is really an agent funded by homeland security to take the attention off the war itself to something more "insidious" at home??? There's got to be a connection here somewhere.

bird - it's very simple... if we pray more, God will protect us from the bad guys... don't you know it was heathen gays and feminists that caused 9/11? that's what Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell told me!!

And you know how accurate they are. They have the word of god to help them and guide them. Notice I did not use the requisite capital letter. They do not deserve it, God does. But, it seems sacreligious to use the capital God when mentioning robertson, falwell and their ilk.
